What is StemCell Engine?
StemCell Engine is a middleware game/application development engine which allows developers to quickly bring their imaginative ideas to life. With support for cutting-edge graphics, real-time physics, 3d sound and real-time scripting, the StemCell Engine is the perfect choice for c++ developers of any category.
What is the CellBuilder application?
CellBuilder is our world editing tool. Is a quick and responsible way of constructing your game/application without the hassle of c++ programming. With its broad range of supported features (graphics scene management, physics scene management, sound management, terrain management, fx management and more) is the default way of quickly bring the game ideas to life. Artists and non-programmers people will embrace this tool in no time.
Why choosing the StemCell engine and its tools?
The StemCell engine license package comes in the aid of the game/application developer. Easy to prototype and test, easy to follow and understand, easy to release; the added value of this engine is simply too important to move on once you get a glance at what it does and how it does it.
What are the plaforms the StemCell Game Engine runs?
The StemCell Engine runs on Windows for the moment. The Xbox 360 is work in progress and the PS3 version is taken into consideration already. We are not targeting a Wii version for now
What are the minimum graphical requirments for the StemCell Game Engine?
Using the default shader implementation with the DX9 renderer the user needs SM3.0 support (NVidia GForce 6.600 and ATI 9.600 and higher versions video cards). If for some reason the user needs to have it running on a lower graphics specification then it can rip off the default shader implementation (or implement one of its own) and keep only the things he really needs and have it running on SM2.0 or even lower shader requirement. When using DX10 renderer though the user needs to have a DX10 graphic card.
Is the StemCell Engine taking into account multiple cores?
You can develop multiple threading solutions using the StemCell Game Engine. There is no real limit of how many cores your application can use and how much processor time you can spend on one task or another.
What is the updating and additional features policy of the DevCell Software development team?
Is important for us to construct the best working environment for our clients so direct requests or additional feature implementation is always taken into consideration. Payed new feature implementations for clients are specific to their license and they will not be shared with any other client. Unpaid feature implementations on the other hand will be always included into the next release KIT and shared to all clients.
Is there an evaluation version of the StemCell Game Engine?
The StemCell Engine SDK is the evaluation version of the StemCell Game Engine. It contains example projects, the engine, the tools and all developed demos the DevCell Team has released on the market.
What do i need to develop games with the StemCell Game Engine?
The StemCell Game Engine can be used either using the scripting languages the engine is offering (or ones you have plugged into the engine) or the C++ programming language. We ship project examples for Visual Studio IDE 2008 but you can easily adapt and construct projects for any other environment which knows how to deal with c++ projects. There is no real software requirment in order to be able to program using the StemCell Engine, no need of installing additional libraries or systems.
Is there a private area where i can access additional information about the engine?
Yes, for all our registered SDK and engine clients we have a separate area with tutorials, presentations, samples and forums in which all people can freely talk about the engine and ask questions to our development team
What types of games can i build with the StemCell Game Engine?
There is no real limit to the type of game you can construct with the StemCell Game Engine. We have clients currently working on platforms, FPS and strategy games to mention a few.
Does the StemCell Game Engine have a world building tool?
Yes, the CellBuilder all-in-one tool is offering all the features a game project needs to be constructed visually. Using the CellBuilder the user can have all the game related resource editing and world constructing tasks executed into a visual easy to use environment.
Can i use the StemCell Game Engine to develop a MMO type of game?
Yes, you can use the StemCell Game Engine to construct a MMO type of game. The upcomming Network module for our engine will make multiplayer implementator’s life easier. Of course, you will actually need to have a proffesioanl team behind you (as with every engine) to implement all the MMO specifics though.
What kind of license should i aquire?
- If you don’t want to sell the result of your work then you should email us, we have very good conditions for single people who want to work with a high-class proffesional engine.
- If you are a single person or a small team with no founding behind you then you should apply for an Indie license, the conditions of such a license will fit you as best as possible.
- If instead you have a publisher or you have founds and a medium sized or large team then you should apply for a commercial license and get all the support you need from the DevCell Software development departament.
- If you also want to change the inner working of the engine or make drastic changes to suit your specific project needs then you should apply for a proffesional license.
Can i upgrade from an indie license to a commercial one?

Can i publish my game if i have an indie license?
Yes, the indie license doesn’t stop you for publishing you game, is up to you what you do with the result of your work.
